    Ps21 angle?

Anybody have any feedback on how the down angle effects the ps21? I have mine set to 15 degrees. It seems to be able to see straight down so not sure what benefit a steeper angle would be? Is that for deeper water maybe? I mainly fish 30ft or less.

Oops! I miss-spoke above - my normal is also two clicks = 30 deg down. 1 click = 15 deg. I have tried 3 clicks in very deep water but went back to two clicks.

That said, the head Garmin Panoptix guy told me this:

Hi Larry, You are correct that 15 will give you better forward range and 30 will give you a stronger bottom. It is our opinion that 15-30 degrees work best. I keep mine at 15. I do not go in really deep water though. You can adjust it and see how it looks at different angles.

    Larry,
That Panoptics guy really knows his transducers, not just the Panoptics. He also tests everyone ( like 10 at a time) as he is a hard core angler as well. We have a beta tester her in Southern Utah that I fish with on a regular basis. These transducers are getting a work out.

    I'll ask.

Well, he's on a fishing vacation. I'll get the info when he gets back.

I havent heard anything specific on the PS31 from Brian, but I see no reason you cant play with it and see what works best for you. The default/recommended mounting angle for it is 45 deg, so it seems to want more of a down angle than the PS21.
