    Voltage dimmer

Ok I bought a motorguide x3 that 1&2 didn't work thinking I only used 3-5 on my minnkota edge well I was way wrong it's to fast. Can I add a dimmer knob and just turn down the voltage? When btteries get lower it goes slower. I love the motor though it seems a lot better than my edge but just to fast. Will I damage the motor or what? After researching the fix it's a major deal and expensive as well.

    Thanks
    Pastor Jamie

Much more complicated than just a dimmer. The repair shouldn't be that expensive.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

The com cap, includes brushes, brush card, speed coil and prop seals sells for apx $90.00 - How are you being quoted $200.00, sounds like parts and labor to repair.

I do them all the time, so asking me how hard is it to do will not give you a true picture.

In my shop, I would charge for parts (com cap and seal kit) between $100 and $110.00 and an hours labor which is $80.00. Entire job would be close to the $200.00 quote that someone gave you for parts.
