2001 G3 Pro 185 MV - part identification... HELP!

in process of Re-decking, carpeting, etc.. my 2001 MV 185 Pro bass boat.. In the process, i have a piece that I cant figure out what is for or where it goes. Anyone that can help would be huge. it was carpeted when I removed it, but the pics are with it stripped. Thanks again!

Might be a brace for the console or inside the rod locker. I re-carpeted an aluminum boat last year and it had a similar piece in the rod locker.
