I could easily get 7 footers in my 2013.
They made the lids open halfway down the edge of the deck starting in 2013. I had a 2012 with the same issue. You can get them in there, but you have to bend them going in. Do you have a recessed trolling tray on the front deck? If so, that makes it even more difficult.
2014 fits my 8' swimbait rods without any problems.....sorry thats not much help.
I have a 2012 TXW with a 7'10" cranking stick in it now. Rod socks are your friend.

What is the issue with the rods not fitting is it due to not being able to make the bend through the lid or they bottom out against something? The rod box runs all the way to the tip of the bow. I have 8' rods in my 2008 with yhe bow panel off i can see the rods laying in there.

I also own a 2012 model 175TXW and just like you I am well aware that the 2013 lid will not fit our boats. That is why I suggested that you search out and read the thread where someone did the cutting and fitting to make the change to his version of the new style lid. It was just a suggestion.
Just curious why someone with the screen name Ranger 188 owns a Tracker. I have noticed lately that you really seem to be on a roll with Tracker issues.
i own a 2012 and cut the top part of the box out of the rod locker, I can get 8 foot swimbait rods in all day everyday no issue at all, and yes as one poster said Rod socks are your friends!
here is a before and after of mine, I can get 12 to 15 rods in there with rod socks and 12 big plano boxes.
I use to own a Ranger about 2 months ago but someone want it more than i did(($$$)) so down the road it went, i got a great deal on the tracker but did not notice the rod box lid, the 175txw 2012 is up for sale ,,
