The only thing I see you would miss is the ability to lower the plate in rough water. Other than that, I leave my hydro plate at the same height 90% of the time. It does make trying different props easier as well.

Mr. Allison is working on a kit to eliminate that side to side slop and bolts/washers loosing up associated with the CMC JP. I started a post here a while back on this problem and installed some nylatron guide plates in between the inner and outer plates eliminating the thin washers. Stopped my problem.

I would not be without a hydraulic plate due to shallow water operation. I am happy to be without the CMC brand. It really makes me smile when I hear comments like the one above in the quality of the CMC jackplates been saying it for years.

Anyone in need of the "bearing strip plates" just call CMC and ask for Rick. Tell him you want a set of "bearing strip plates", part number 12525 for between the inner and outer plates on a PL-65 CMC hydraulic to eliminate the washers. If your outer washers are gouged and ugly buy a set of washers from Mark Cartes here on this forum and replace them too right away. If your roller bearings are ugly replace them too because all those parts have to be removed to get the strip plates inserted.
