    PS 31

I have a PS 31 on an ulterex and 25 -30 feet is all I can pick up my bait or anything in front of me. Do I need to adjust on the angle of the transducer to get it dialed in?

Keep working with it..you'll find the sweet spot. Garmin support can be a big help

Thinking about getting Ultrex and and using with PS 31. How do you have wires routed ? Anything i need to be concerned about ? As far as your set up goes i have found that water clarity and depth seem to have the biggest impact, for me anyway. I am pretty much running factory presets. I need to change it up a little to see what helps or changes.

No I have no problems other than I don't see anything from 30 ft out. When you throw a crankbait it doesn't show up until 25-30 ft. I'm gonna adjust the angle of the transducer this afternoon and see what I get

What angle is it at now? IIRC, they recomend 45 deg.

What are your Gain and noise reduction settings?

Can you see bottom beyond 30 ft? Is the bottom bright red or yellow or?

But can you see the bottom beyond 30 ft?

It would help if you posted a screen shot or two.

If you can see bottom - beyond 30 ft - but not targets, there are a few possibilities.

Turn the gain UP and or noise reduction Down.

Your bait may be too small or moving too fast. Try a larger slower moving hard bait and see what it looks like. I can sometimes see my baits beyond 30 ft but not reliably unless they are large or hard and slow moving. Some baits just dont show up well at all.

You may also be moving the TM too fast. Try holding in a fixed direction. If its turning, targets dont show up as well.

As far as seeing fish - sometimes there are fish to see and sometimes there are no fish :)

Set your depth manually. Say 50 ft. Set your range manually to 65'. Set your gain to med Auto, you may need to go to low auto depending interferenc. I have a PS 21 and have it set at two clicks down.
Depending on the bait your throwing and we're it is in the scope or cone angle. you may or may not see it. I throw a 10th oz Ned rig and I can pick it up out to about 30 ft if Its centered. It shows as a light blue image as it falls.
