We have a 2004 Bennington with 90 Yamaha 4-stroke - gets 25-27 with 4 adults (no underpinning - 2 tubes). We also have a 2018 Playcraft Daytona 23.5 feet with a 250 Honda that will touch 50 with just me on board (has lifting strakes and underpinning - 3 tubers) and 45 with 4 adults. All gps ratings.

There is a lot more to pontoon speed than just motor size. Is it a pontoon, is it a tri-toon, does is have lifting strakes to plane the boat, is pinned underneath..... Pontoons alone are not built for planing as is a bass boat. Pontoon are displacement hulls or plow through the water. To plane a pontoon they require additional help called Lifting Strakes.

I have a 22' Avalon LSZ2285 QF, Tri-toon, with lifting strakes and a 115 Yamaha SHO, trolling motor and 2 batteries mounted in the bow. I get 34 MPH on the GPS with 3 adults on board at 6000 rpm, trimmed out and the water line breaks just ahead of the console. I cruise at 28 mph or 3/4 throttle and the bow is lifted just out of the water running on the strakes.

I’m averaging 45mph at about 5700 rpm on my 26ft Angler Qwest powered by a Suzuki 250ss. That’s with 2 anglers and usually with my 50 gallon bait tank full. A re-prop my gain my a few mph and let me hit closer to redline but I’m happy enough with current performance

24ft Bentley with a 2018 200 Suzuki. I’ve hit 50 GPS but I think a larger prop would help because I can hit 6000 with more throttle left. Tri toon with lifting strakes.

Bought a 2020 Misty Harbor 22' tritoon last year with a Suzuki DF140A. Underpined and lift stakes. Trying to get the prop correct. Currently can only get 5200rpm out of it with a14x21P aluminum suzuki prop. Going to try a 14x17P and see what it does for the rpm's and speed. Just for reference at 4000rpm I am running 32mph. 5200rpm I can get 36mph. Motor is rated at 5600-6200 WOT, so 5200 is way too low

I was unaware of Honda making a 175!

I have a 20’ Ranger Reata 200c with a Mercury 90. 2 tubes, no under pinning. I get 22. It slowed to 19 but I cleaned the tubes and am back up to 22. Condition and slickness of the tubes matter. I keep mine in the water so they get lots of crud on them.
