How's fishing on the chick in early July?

Don't bother. Won't be able to fish for the pleasure boaters out that weekend

By then, they should be set up nicley on the ledges, but, as noted above, the pleasure boats will drive you crazy. If you are going, get on the water at daylight and get off by 12:00 or 1:00 at the latest. It will really get brutal after that.

Jan-March seem to be the best times for a jerkbait on chick

Ditto on the January-March timing. A couple of years ago my son and I sat at the mouth of Grasshopper Creek in early March and got into a school of 3-4 largemouth and caught them every other cast on a jerkbait for over an hour. What a blast!

If the grass is matted then you can certainly catch them frogging or flipping in mid summer.
