2001 Merc 225efi TPS and butterflies

    0t364621.

While checking my engine, I noticed my TPS was I'm spec at idle but wouldn't achieve 3.8 +/- .25 at WOT. After more looking I noticed the intake butterflies were no where near fully opened at WOT either. To make a long story short, I adjusted the bump screw to allow the butterflies to open more and now achieve TPS spec. at idle and Wot. Does what I did seem legit? It's an old boat and a bought the motor second hand... Any reason they would have had it set that way to begin with? Thanks in advance.

No real reason for this serial number, unless they were attempting to limit power output "mechanically".
