Lowarance HDI Transducer Transom Mounting Help - '94 200 Dual Pro

New to the forum and Just bought a '94 Procraft 200 Dual Pro back in April. The gentleman i bought it from had just purchased Lowrance Hook units for the both the front deck and console. The console unit however he never mounted the transducer so it is simply functioning as a GPS currently.

I am looking to mount a HDI transducer on the transom and want to make sure i get it right the first time. After researching on here and on youtube i think i have a good idea, but would really appreciate some direct input. I also purchased a transducer mounting board from Bert's Custom Tackle but after getting it in my hands it doesn't look like ill be able to use due to the layout of the boats transom. Only option i think would be to cut it down. Anyone have any experience with using one of these on this boat?

From what I've read it sounds like i should install it the right of the drain plugs and valves fairly close to the first bunk.

    Appreciate any input!

I could be wrong, but I don't think that huge metal plate is supposed to be there. When I see pictures of those, its usually hiding an underlying problem, aka weak/possibly wet transom. People usually do that for support. You might want to check that first before you start adding transducers back there.
