Amsoil back to Merc DFI Oil

I just got a new used boat with a 250 Pro XS (2B014599)
    The previous owner used Amsoil
I have always used Merc DFI oil
I buy in bulk and have several gallons

    My question is:
What is the best way to transition back to the Merc DFI oil?

My dealer suggested I just run the Amsoil in the tank as low as reasonable
Then fill up with with the Merc oil
He suggested not mixing the two as much as possible

What are your thoughts on this?

I am a bit anal when it comes to my boat and I always top off the oil tank every time I run her
running it low is very foreign to me

You could removes the oil storage tank in the battery compartment and dump it and then just fill with the DFI Oil. Or just continue to run Amsoil.... I'm not a fan of switching back and forth . I use amsoil HP and it is the cleanest smoothest oil out there

I would empty both tanks, and drain the line from the remote tank to the motors oil reservoir.

It is not about sticking with Amsoil
I want to return to the manufacturers recommend oil

I have 3 gallons of Merc DFI oil left over

My dealer suggested waiting until the remote tank is almost empty
but that leaves it to mix in the on board tank
I am just worried about compatibility as I switch it back

Well tonight my son and I drained the old Amsoil out of the on board tank and the boat tank
It was actually easier than I had feared

When I looked at the Amsoil site, it said limit the mixing as much as possible
I knew then that if I changed I need to drain it all like Savage said
    Thanks Guys

I'm sure there are many on here who know more than I, but if it were me I would make sure the oil system is primed.

You need to have a dealer prime your engine to get all air of line ect. If not you can easily burn up air compressor cylinder ect. Plugging it up to the DDTS is the best way to do this at the dealer
