I used to fish barren a lot as it's 35 min from my house. But the last few years been awful. I have only been there once this year. Got a club Tx there in 2 weeks.

I've been saying for the past few years Barren is fixing to be in real trouble. You can't catch a fish that doesn't have holes in its head. And you don't catch many 10-13" fish like you used too.

Shhhh. Greens getting beat to death monday-sunday also. It used to be if you went out any during the week, you might see a few boats. Now its full every single day. While
its still producing, you dont catch a keeper fish that doesnt have atleast one cull hole in it. I think its just a matter of time until all
of these lakes get in trouble. Theyre too small to keep getting pounded like they are. 2-6 tournies on green every weekend and usually 80-100 boats. Im typically not one for government intervention, but i think its about time they start regulating the number of tournies. While im usually one of them thats there most weekends, id be gladto see less pressure. Regulate the number of tournies and youll see some of the pressure during the week relieved
They aint got hands, set the hook

I fish Barren more than any other lake since I live closer. I hardly ever keep a fish but I have because I like to eat fish. I have read that catch and release can hurt over a period time for different reasons.

I promise you all that the fish are still here. But they have clearly been conditioned to what they are seeing day in and day out. Try something unconventional and you might get surprised. We hammered em two days this week. Monday after that BFL weekend, we caught 13 over 3 pounds. It is not all gloom and doom!!
