lower units
Hi all,
i have taken on the project of rebuilding a lower unit for a friend of mine. He has a 1994 xr6. the question i have is i can get access to a complete lower unit off a 1989 black max 200 and i think but am not sure if they are the same basic lower unit. I cant find anything on the gear ratio for the black max. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Post this question on the Mercury pages,someone there will know,like Don Weed. They will need a serial number for the engine/s

Yep Don your man . I know pre (1994 ) 150 hp the gear ratio was 2.0 .....and the 200 1.87

ratio wasn`t a big deal. they are 1.78 and 1.87 which isn`t much of a difference. they were direct bolt ups.
