How's pool 5 fishing?
How's pool 5 fishing?
I'm interested in this also. I plan to fish 3,4,5 starting Monday next week. I've never fished the red so pretty excited about it. When do you plan to go maybe we can share a little info up there.
I donno bout pool 5, but alexandria pool is loaded with too many Gar... Need some bow hunters down here...
Ill be able to tell you Sunday how Colfax landing is..
Pool 5 is hit or miss. The floods really took its toll on the river system. It's muddy. Back water stays stained. Not many actually bother with it. Red River South is up for sale auction so we don't know what's gonna happen here soon with it

OK how about a pool 4-5 fishing report
Did the high water kill all the grass, pads, etc. ?
Pool 4 has been tough for me since last year when the water went down. Everything is so different now. Places that used to have grass or structure are bare and places that used to be 3-5 feet deep are dry sand. I've pretty much quit going except this time of year when I catch fish off the rocks in pool 3 and 4.
What lures do you use on the rocks?
I use a Strike King 1.5 chartreuse with black back and a Bandit 200 series in sunperch or splatterback. Also use baby brush hogs or old 7" worms sometimes. Did have good luck last year on watermelon seed magnum finesse worms on a shaky head but of course you would lose a few hooks.
I fished rocks yesterday evening with no luck.. Threw chart and white spinnerbait and a rebel perch squarebill... Caught 0 ... Lol.. But i only fished them about 30 minutes before moving on... Will have to try again.
