    Mega 9 or mega 10?!

In the process of deciding on a new graph and trying to decide between the mega 9 and 10. What's the benefit the 10 has over the 9 besides screen display. The 9 mega fits the budget and trying to decide if the 10 is worth the extra 400. Thanks fellas

When you can actually compare the differing screen resolutions, using the same exact imagery - it will become quite apparent why the Helix 10 MSI is the #1 selling HB unit right now, and has been for months.

I would like to borrow my buddies H9SI for a minute off his mount to see if I should start saving to cramp one up behind the wheel.

I have a h9si that I'm going to put on the bow. I just want the mega for when I'm behind the wheel graphing. So you're saying the 10 is def worth the extra coin?

I wanted a 10 to start, couldn't find one (at a price I could live with) - and you STILL see them sold out all over except big box or over MSRP.

    So, I ended up adding a 12MSI to my 1st gen 12's.

Some folks will have issue with the lower pixel density (looks "gritty" I think maybe the Low9HDS got a bad rap for that too IIRC), the unit's transceiver has the same function, it can't show the sharpest of details on a display that has much finer pixels.
The 10 is about the "right size" for most & great resolution.

The 12's is slightly better, but up close the 10 may even "fool some peoples eyes".

    That's where I'm at.

Damnit. Now you've got me sold on a 10. I had convinced myself there wouldn't be a difference

Just look at the image thread for "Need more MEGA..."

    There's 800X480 H9MSI pics, there's probably MORE of the H10MSI pics @ 1024X600 than anything, then H12MSI at 1280X800.
    sh0 iZ gUD!!!

Chris Felts (H10MSI) really has a few nice shots in great palette choices in that thread too.

    Check it.

That detail is unreal. I think Ima go with a 10 at the Console on a ram. The h9si would be good for the bow right?

The bow unit is further away from your eyes than the console unit, BIGGER is better - but you must consider your budget also.

Where you spend the most seat time is where you want the best of the two if you cannot afford 2-10's.

A Helix 10 would be MUCH better at the bow instead of a 9.... if it is in the budget. If not.... I would wait until it was. Seriously.

I went from a HDS 5 to a Mega 9 and was a little worried about the pixel density, but im happy with the 9. It looks great.

I couldnt justify the hundreds more for the 10 right now

Look at the transducers between the 9 and 10. Think HD and the cost difference disappears.

All the Helix MEGA units come with the same MEGA SI transducer---no difference.

The cost difference is the higher quality display and larger display.

Pixels per square inch. The H10 has about 3,000 more per square inch.

In your opinion, does that justify the extra $400?

depends on what $400 means to you. If not much, then go 10.

I was already stretched for cash, so $400 more was just too much.

I was in the same deal on the mega 10 vs mega 9. I have the 9 and while it has the best images I have ever produced, the 10 is noticeably better from the images I have seen. Having said that, if I would have splurged the extra 400 on the 10, a few months later I would have been thinking the woulda, shoulda, coulda on a mega 12 . They will all show fish in great detail
