CMC jackplate with talon jackplate adapter brackets

I have a Cmc on my boat and have two talons to install, I already bought the jackplate brackets because that's what I figured I needed and I've seen/read that I need a sandwich bracket however I'm wondering if I can just drill out the holes on the bracket a little bit so that the bolts already on my jackplate will fit through there instead of getting other brackets . Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is the setback of your jack plate? I have a 10" setback CMC and I mounted mine to the jackplate between the transom and the sliding portion of my jack plate.

I think it's a 4 or 5.5 would have to look but I don't think I have enough room to mount like yours that's why I'm wondering if I can't just drill the holes out on the bracket a little bit so that those two bolts on the jackplate will fit through there
