I have a rod that I bought to use for jerkbaits. I chose it because it had a shorter handle that wouldn't get caught on my jacket or arm when working a jerkbait. But, that rod didn't work as well for jerkbaits as I had hoped. So, I'd like to extend the rod handle 3-4 inches, so that the end will rest against my side when retrieving a bait as this will help with my hookset, so I can use it for other moving lures. Anyway, here's what I was thinking...remove the butt cap and get a piece of dowel rod that will fit into the end of the rod blank. Glue the dowel in place and add cork rings. What's wrong with this idea? Go ahead and shoot me down or give me other options!
