Mounting new sho on 2002 ranger520. Advice or opinions?
Motor is finally here. Looking for the right height. No jack plate. 2002 520. Currently have VMAX OX66 that runs high 60's at 5600 rpm loaded. Mounted on the 4th bolt hole on the motor. Read that the sho likes to be mounted high.
I have a worked 25 tempest from croxton that I would like to use in place of a Yamaha prop as well. If I need to run the sho prop what pitch would you recommend ?
Thanks for looking.

Try them both, but from what I'm told the yammy props are pretty good performers.

A SHO 225? A Yamaha T1 25" will work very well. Without a plate, set it as close to 3-3.5" under as you can.I have a buddy with the same rig but he has a 6" hydro plate,His will do 74-75 light and 72-73 loaded. That's pretty fast for a Ranger but I have seen it.
