    Torque tab removal

Running a 2003 Evinrude 250 on a Ranger 521vx. Any harm in removing the torque tab? Reason for asking is that I'm considering purchasing a CB foil for this boat setup and need to specify if using a torque tab. Are there any pros and cons with regarding to removing it?

Look at the pointed (bottom end) of the tab, if there is a slight indention then there is a cooling passage that keeps your prop hub cool.

I've seen a couple of engine/boats that would cavitate to the point of not planing when the torque tab was removed. Better to replace it with a flat plate if it doesn't cool the hub.

Just get the foil for your boat and don't worry about it ,you can't see see the hole in the foil for the tab anyway, just put mine on week ago.
