    Am I reading this correct? The LED strips are ok as long as they meet 112.5 arc of visibility, but not recommended because they are too bright.

    You can read into it almost what ever you want with the way it's written. To my knowledge only very few OEM's have followed thru NMMA/USCG approvals for leds used as nav lights. Bubba buying leds aftermarket and adding them to there rig is not approved lighting regardless if they they are navigation lights added in addtion to/replacement for OEM lights, or visible bling lights that are in excess of required-approved red/green bow lamps or 360 stern lamp. The enforcement officals on the water make the call on legal/illegal lighting.
