    2009 200 HO Etec Thermostats

I have a question about temperatures and thermostats. I have recently changed the spark plugs and the water pump on my engine. The water pressure is fine and the spark seems to be fine, my question is, my read out for the engine temp via my electronics is showing 211-213°F when idling. As soon as I get on plane the water temp reduces considerably to the 140 range. I am thinking of changing out the Thermostats myself, is this difficult, any advice would be appreciated? Lastly, I did a search for operating temps of an Etec and could not find any information that was trust worthy. Thanks in advance from the experts on this site, they are truly the best.
    Thanks in advance.

Best to check the cylinder head temps with an infrared temp gun and using a laptop and the Evinrude diagnostic software first. It is very possible that your electronics readings are not correct as some makes do not correctly interpret the Evinrude data.

I will do that. I am using Lowrance HDS 5's for my electronics. What would be an ideal temp for idle?

    display temperatures:

Typical display temperature displays at IDLE speed
    should be 160°F ± 10°F (71°C ± 6°C)
Operating temperature must not exceed 194°F
    (90°C).

    The measured cylinderhead temps:

Measure temperature at the top of cylinder block,
next to the thermostat housing and cylinder head.
Check temperature on both sides of powerhead.
Typical temperatures observed at IDLE speed
    with pyrometer should be 143°F ± 15°F (62°C ±
    8°C)
