The good...
I picked up my boat from local mechanic today who did some service, lake tested, and completed the work on my 87 Super Champ 176 w/ Johnson 110 winter project.
Thumbs up to Chris @ Integrity Outboards.
The bad...
I left my boat keys on the bumper when I drove off. Retraced my trail but no luck in finding them.
The good...
Found a spare key amidst all the paperwork and materials back at the house that I received from the previous owner.
The question...
Is there a source for getting a key boot like the one I lost and in the attached photo without having to purchase a replacement switch?
I scoured ebay and other searched but did not find.
easy answer is WALMART !! Auto Dept had extra Ign keys for ski, bass, fishing Boats, MH, Travel Trailers. Perko deck latches.. trailer coupler lock, key for hitch ball pin lock.
If Boat key has the rubber over , take the key out your self.. If a kids is running the key machine , they will try to cut off the rubber part, Dumb ASS!
No common sense it seems. Then you can put it back on.. Yea I know . it has to be off for them to duplicate that ign key.. But I had 6 of each key made. kept I set in glove box of boat, I set in glove box of truck, I set in pocket with other keys. original set stays in boat, I set in wifes car glover box, I set kept at home.

If you ever get in a pinch, your key number is stamped on the end of the switch where you put your key in. It is small and hard to read but it is a 2 digit code. Any Johnson/Evinrude dealer will have the matching key.
