    Replacement trailers

FYI - maybe this is common knowledge, it wasn't to me. EZ Loader has Champion fitment designs for building a custom trailer from your material of choice. Sounds like you can order one up, have it built without them needing your boat, and it should fit just fine. Been looking at replacement options as opposed to putting anything into my steel tube trailer and this is what they've passed along to me. I remember reading in the sticky above that they built them for Champ, just didn't know they could build a custom and not need the boat on site for fitting.

They can do a custom aluminum (material of choice meaning steel or aluminum) which is what I'm after. Would not do steel again, no way, no how.

    Good to know.

When the time comes, I am going to aluminum. But, most I see are "boring" looking (I know, not as bad as having a POS steel tube), but I like a good looking trailer. I'll keep this in mind.

I remember seeing a black powder-coated one here somewhere that looked pretty good (don't remember who made it, maybe Coastline...??)

Ya, I'd surely like a Coastline job. IDK if EZ Loader does powdercoat on their custom aluminum trailers. Reason I want to find out more from them is the idea that they have Champ specs and theoretically they could build one without needing the boat on site, so a convenience thing.

What's the best and/or most economical fix? I found a 206 I'm really interested in but the trailer is trashed. I'm in east Texas. Thanks Coach

What is the cost of an aluminum replacement trailer. I'm in need of some repairs due to rust and am really considering a new tandem aluminum model. I'm in Maryland - (1bluemcm) who did you contact.

Kevin, a local man had an aluminum trailer built for his Stratos here in the Norfolk area. Not sure I remember who it was that had it built (possibly Darrel Johnson), but if you post in the VA Club forum, someone will know who the builder is. Another BBCer, in Goldsboro, NC had one built, too. Might post in that forum, too

I would assume. EZ Loader told me they built them for Champion for 25 years, so maybe they are including that.

Thanks Lea. I think I got that info a while back, will have to double check. Just trying to check all options that don't involve me dragging the boat on a mult-day trip for a trailer....so yeah, SE VA and NC could work too.

Gah, I hate doing multiple posts in a row, but I just spoke to EZ Loader and they really prefer that you go through a dealer.

For anyone in VA or close to it, I also found out that Bob's Boat Trailers in Norfolk has done EZ Loader customs for a long time. Also found that from other people in the VA forum from old posts - doh....

Call coastline in seadrift. Two hours south of Houston. They have built several 206 trailers.

In 2010 I contacted EZ Loader about a trailer for a 198 and they told me they needed the boat to be able to build it. And yes I was working for a dealer at the time.

EZ Loader built Champion's trailers under the TI Trailers brand up until Champion contracted to Dri Doc. That's why they can build trailers for the Mtn Home models without having to have the boat.
