Some folks are wanting to see this so I'll post a pic. Called Ed at Charger and gave him the measurements and this is what he came up with. It's a hard plastic with no slip on the top and a recessed finger pull to get to the cooler. I had to reuse the hinge from my middle seat. Works good, I like it. Cost was about $100 which included shipping.

Yes, you have to raise the step then raise the cooler lid.
One could remove the cooler lid with this in place .
Remove the cooler lid and put two cup holds in that it would be perfect a step, cooler lid, and keep drinks cold by having them above the ice.Originally Posted by TOUCH OF CLASS
There's enough of a gap due to the hinge that I think it would melt ice too fast. I sure thought about it.
Looks better than mine with just the ice chest lid.
