Finally Got My 2017 Ranger 198P

Picked up my new ride on Tuesday evening. Put it in the water on Wednesday to start the break in and it was awesome. Here is a list of some of the goodies that I got.

Fishing Package: Spare Tire, Boat Buckle trailer retractable tie downs, Coin Box, Boat Cover
    Stainless Tempest Plus 23 Pitch
    Minn Kota Fortrex 80
    3 bank 15 amp charger
    Lowrance Hook 7-chirp in dash
    Aluminum wheel upgrade
    Stainless boarding ladder
    Additional retractable rod strap
    Pro Pole Seat and Pole
    Troll Motor Plug (Battery Tender)
    Transom Saver
    150 Mercury Pro XS
    Charcoal boat with gray carpet

OK, now for the good stuff! After putting about an hour and a half on the motor and following the break in procedure, I had to give it a little test. I had ran full throttle on short bursts during the first hour keeping the nose down and making it work. Still got a few more hours to vary speeds every 10 minutes BUT....Made a 5 minute run @ WOT trimmed with about a 10 mph tail wind and a 10" chop, livewell 3/4 full, several crappie rods and tackle, safety equipment, drinks in the ice chest, 3/4 tank of gas, my 240 self behind the wheel, 59.3 GPS. When the engine works through the double oil and loosens a bit more, maybe a little more. The boat jumps up on plane in about a 2 count and handles very well when on pad. I thought it did pretty good right out of the box.

So...I was going to upload some photos and got error messages, HELP Please.

Congratulations! I'm wishing I had bought the 19' Crestliner cause I think it would handle better than my 18' 5".

Your pictures are to large. You need some photo editing software, I use Irfanview, it's free, or you can just retake the pictures and change the settings on your camera to take smaller pics

The WOT throttle restriction not trimmed is only during the first hour, then you just have to vary speed every 10 minutes. He is perfectly fine with the 5 minutes of WOT.

Those are sweet boats but I want a tandem axle option that they just dont have. I wonder how much in the 60's this boat will run. sounds like you had an awesome run! congrats on the new purchase.

Really, because mine was the national dealers show boat and it only had 4 on it when I got it. Do you really think the dealers didn't run it WOT? I know someone did by the max speed registered in the GPS when I bought it. I've had a Merc on another boat blow blow three times in the first ten hours. The Merc tech rep hooked up to the PCM. I was there. I did the break in all three times. I bet he's ok.

Good deal on the 198. Hope it serves you well!!

I have now owned my 188 for 2 months and am absolutely pleased with it. I can see where the 198 would be an upgrade so am sure you will be pleased with it as well. Notice you did not get a spare console, I did not either but considering adding one. Good Luck with your new boat!

Welcome to Ranger Land! Their quality is second to none. I will confess a little concern over the use of .100" material on a boat rated for a V6, but Ranger certainly knows more than I do.
