    Replacing Rub Rail

Hey guys. I am replacing the rub rail and insert on my 20i. Has anyone done this before. Any suggestions? Do I need to run a bead of silicone around the bottom? I have a factory replacement. Anyone??

    Zach,

When you take it off, can you post a few photos of the side profile of the rub rail insert. I'm thinking about putting in LED's in mine but I would like to have an idea of how much room is actually in there before I start taking the rail apart.

    Thanks

No problem. I took it off tonight and will be working on it tomorrow. I will get a few pics up for you.

I replaced the "insert " on mine a few years ago which was fairly simple. You do need to stretch it out and let it heat up in the sun if possible. It makes it much easier to and quicker to install. 2006 20i

    Re: Replacing Rub Rail (photocycle)

Thanks for the info. I have taken mine off before to tighten the screws and learned the trick about it being in the sun. I plan to do the same thing on that part of the operation today.

To answer the question from the previous post, my dealer took care of me on this one. Any authorized Skeeter dealer has access to these parts. I am not sure how much it cost because my dealer picked up the tab for me. Good luck.

I have 2006 ZX250, where can I purchase new rub rail rubber? Mine is 13 years old. Is it just a dealer item or is the rub rail used on other boats??
