I agree with mismanagement and lack of water. But there's plenty of decent water to fish. Good quality may be harder to get, but it's definitely there. I've had a great season so far in and around Plainfield, Braidwood.

Braidwood I've been to, but not Plainfield....never heard of any spots near there.

I am a member of a local club. It's not managed, so don't anything think I'm jacking 5lbers dumped from a truck.
I totally get people's frustrations with waters up here but as I mentioned, the quality is there; just hard to be consistent. Be confident. Be different, and I promise you'll catch more.
What's that old adage that likely originated in Illinois? Something about a bad day fishing being better than a good day at work?

I don't like where I live but I don't have major complaints about the fishing. It comes with the territory when you live around a big city. Actually, there are quite a few places I enjoy fishing in the area.

Good things in life don't come easy. I think, like anything else, if someone puts time into reaching a goal, they will eventually become successful. I also agree about lack of water and lack of management.

Don't worry Chicago and possibly the state will look like Detroit soon.

Not a fan of Chicago or the state.
