    New Suzuki 200 HP

I just ordered my new motor. It's going on a 1999 triton Tx21. I use it for both fresh and salt water so I wanted a 4 stroke. I'll post some performance info as soon as I can get on the water.

I was reading on The Hull Truth today about the Zukie 200 hp 4 cylinder. A gentleman was complaining about some unknown noise that comes in @ 1000 rpms on his brand new motor with 20 hours. The sound was very annoying.

Others have chimed in and agreed that some motors have the problem. A Suzuki service rep looked at one motor in the field basically said "it's how it is." Owners of 2015 and 2016 200 horse motors said theirs are very quiet.

If I was buying one, it'd be with the condition that if the motor makes such a noise, the dealer would return the purchase price or replace it with a motor that's quiet.

With the right prop you will run 60 to 65 would be my guess. My 250ss on my 20'9 procraft will run 70 plus with a full load and two guys. I have had 0 issues from her in 2 years.

75 plus would be possible. Triton is a faster hull than mine.

It had a 200 hp evinrude on it and top speed was in the mid 60's. I thought about going up to the 250 but I didn't really think I needed it. I never run wot anyway. I'm hoping for 60 and up. I'll be happy with that.

I think you could do 60 plus and with a good setup and prop maybe a little more.

If the 200 is geared like mine, then I'd bet you would turn a 26 or 27 with that boat. I turn a 28 4 blade zuke prop. Sometimes I could even turn a 29, but my holeshot may suffer a little. As it is it comes up fast and pulls really hard in midrange. I'm not w speed monkey either. So 65 or so and get there quick is what I wanted. I can if need be push over 70, but I rarely run more than 60 except on takeoff. In oklahoma the wind is blowing so much on spring fishing you have to slow down a little anyway.

I'm glad you can steam right along at 60+, but in my opinion, the feeling that you'll always get back from where you're going is worth much more than speed.

Quick update. The motor is installed and they are going to test props on Monday. I'll let you guys know the details as soon as I know what works best.

Well. That didn't seem to work. I can not figure out this picture posting thing. I went and picked up the boat tonight. They went with a 25 pitch 4 blade for now until I get it broken in then they said we can tinker with it some more if I'm not happy. I didn't get back home until late so I haven't test driven it yet. I'll get a pic or two up as soon as I can. Looks great though. I am very pleased so far.

I'm thinking about repoweribg with same motor. Very interested to hear how you like it. What did it cost - new motor, controls and all?

I'm running a 4 x 14.5 x 29 on my charger and have hit the 73mph mark (GPS) once, realized low 60s is plenty fast for me. If my 250 can push my heavy boat that fast, you should have no problems getting over 65 with a lighter boat and a 200. You'll love how quiet it is.

I would think your 250 could get that 496 over 75 if somebody really wanted to.
