    Lake Thunderbird

Any one fished Lake Thunderbird? My fiance's folks are looking for central to northern IL lake property for retirement and I've never been to this one. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I happen to love central and southern Illinois.

I've fished it a number of times over the past 10 years. What would you like to know?

There are better places to retire in Illinois than Sherrard!

Really just a some general knowledge would be great... types of species present & health of fishery, typical & max depth, amount of fishing vs pleasure boat traffic, that sorta thing.
    Thanks!!

it's a 90 horse max lake. I usually fish 1 tournament there a year and it usually takes around 12-15 lbs to win. Lots of vegetation to fish, and deeper structure to fish. I have seen smallies in the 3-4 lb range, and largies up to 5.5. Decent crappie fishery. I know it used to be a decent musky lake, but haven't heard much lately. Pleasure boaters can get bad, but when I fish it I usually start early and off the water by the time it gets too busy.
