Sent my boss a email and asked him to come by the shop and see me. I asked him about a raise and his reply was "write me up a reason why you deserve more money since you welders are over paid already" So I emailed him this picture and asked him "any questions?" I got 2.5%
Can he weld at all? If not, you might let him try it sometime. That experience might get you 5%. Pretty weld, OBTW.
Nope he would hurt himself trying.
Is that on an automatic roll out?

Back when i was welding full time, i had a boss that would come up and say we was taking too long, welds wasn't pretty enough or something to that and would always add that welders are over paid and they could hire anyone off the street and make them a welder. One day i ask him to grab the stinger and do the best and honest weld he could do, but if it failed or looked bad he had to grind it out completely, needless to say after about 30 mins of grinding he never came out and had any smart!&* comments anymore. We did a lot of overhead and uphill welding and with all them sparks coming back down on him i guess he decided he was better off supervising. Congrats on the pay increase.

Tell him you were hired to make him money, and if you aren't to let you go and if you are, then he needs to pay you to do so.

I spent over ten years on the road oil refineries, bio fuel, power plants and some nuclear work. Only place I have run into a boss that didn't weld was this shop. Ex-wife wanted me off the road so I took this job looking back I should have gotten rid of her and stayed on the road.

Nice job. You should come weld on the jobsite im on right now. Theres hundreds of opportunities to try to outdo those guys on welds that look just like that
