Older eyes need help threading rods!

If this has been suggested already my apologies...So, when reading IN FISHING Magazine the other day under new products, I see a line threader sold by a company the magazine says, for $3.99. Went on their website and says $6.99 & shipping. I got to thinking...

Get an old pen, take out the "guts" part; (he old .19 cent BIC comes to mind). Cut a piece of the empty ink tube about 2" long, then cut a 1/4" slice thru one side of one end with a razor and mark the "slice" with a Sharpie. Slide line thru tube & pull tag into the Sharpie marked slice, and you can thread rod in record time, no misses or line falling back thru the guides.

That's the exact product that got me to thinking, (From In Fisherman mag)...$6.99 and $5.00 to ship something that you can put a single stamp on and mail, spare me!. Heck, have progressive eyeglasses, but the little tool I made works great. Can also use a piece of coffee stirrer and put a little slice in it.

I'm going to use the coffee stir idea! I was cursing earlier today trying to thread my line. Thanks!

I use a 1/8 dropshot weight, the long skinny kind. Works like a champ and fits thru all the guides just fine and if you drop it, it only goes back to the next guid and not all the way back to the reel !!
