    203 Holeshot Question

I have a 2000 203. With 225 optimax, 3.5 ptp, with a 25 tempest on it. Was out this weekend and it seemed to dog out of the hole, I played around with the pvs plugs and did not change anything. What are avg holeshots for a 203? Could it need new plugs? Something wrong with the motor? What do you guys think?
    Thanks

Should be less than five seconds.
Once it breaks over and goes what's your speed/rpms at full power/trim?

Sounds like your missing 600-700 rpms. Make sure all your coil packs are connected. You might be running on 5 cylinders instead of 6.

If it was running on 5 instead of 6 cylinders wouldn't there be a noticeable miss in the motor or no?

Not necessarily. Do you have to peg the throttle to get it on plane? Do a little research on coil packs and opti's.

Is this a new situation? If so, motor needs check up.

I just got the boat in September and it was under proped. I kept hitting rev limiter so I put a 25p on it and ever since I did that it's done this. Taking it to dealer this week

with a 25 tempest on a opt 225, 203 that is set with a 3.5 PTP, you should have no trouble with holeshot, or spinning that prop to 5600-5700 rpm.

I had 3 different tempest 25's...all I could spin to 5600rpms with no struggle.

something else is going on with your motor....and your speed is slow for that prop...by about 6-7mph.

    guessing your on 5 cylinders.

That looks bad. Do you have a good Mercury mechanic fairly local? Also, we have excellent folks in the Mercury forums here on BBC. They might be able to point you in the right direction!
