fred im about to pull what little bit of hair i have left out. got a new powerpack and i finally have fire on all 6. so that problem finally got solved. took it to the lake and cranked it. it will barely idle ans will not run in gear. no matter what i try with the screws. its in tdc with the pointer. tried to set the timing in gear unrestrained @ 4 atdc and it wont run for about 5 - 10 seconds. i rememberd to try and push in the choke and it actually idled and ran in gear as soon as i let off the key about 10 seconds it would die again. so trying the choke is helping it. what should i try next? it didnt run like this at all until the timer base and power pack change. it used to fire 4-5 but idled great.

Chris try this. Loosen the lock nut on the idle timing screw and set the screw to 1" off the end of the linkage arm, that should get you close. Set all of your carb idle jets to 5 full turns out that is the initial setting. Set it in neutral first and check your RPMs. 900 is OK it will drop once you drop it in gear. Make sure you have the throttle cable disconnected so your adjustments aren't hindered by cable binding.

ok fred i tried yesterday. no luck. it wont idle long and it def wont in gear. another question for you. im looking at buying a parts motor that is blowed up. its a 1999 j200pleeb. suppose to be a 200 ho. will the fuel pump and alot of other parts fit mine? im hoping if my carbs and stuff needs rebuilt i can use those. would the jets have to be swapped over?

Chris everything will bolt right on to your block, there never was a 200 HO only 225's HO's and only for 3 years. Those model numbers are all 225HGL model numbers. Same carbs just move the orifices over.

Yep #4 Check the #4 carb. gonna be the middle one on the left facing them and see if it has the new style drain screw on it with the raised tit on it. Looks like it got hot and started to lose the wrist pin bearings.
