When you are running it with the muffs is the tell tale in? I ran into the same problem. You need the tell tale in for the pressure to build up.

Ok heres a update finally. I got 2 coils and put them in. Im now not getting any fire on i believe number 1. Top starboard. All the other 5 have spark and will jump 7/16. Switching wires didnt do any difference. Top one off the coil has the orange with blue strip. So i switched orange leads and put solid orange on number 1 and orange with blue strip on the middle one i believe number 3. The top then fired good and jumped 7/16. Middle one now with orange and blue wire nothing. So i dont know what it can be. I did see a few spots of black goo under the stator like it dripped. Very small amount. No wing nuts either but who knows before i got the motor. I did install the new water pump kit 5001594. And i hooked the line back up for the water pressure. At idle in gear about 5 psi and full throttle about 21 psi. Also did a compression check to make sure something hasnt happened. I did it cold. Heres what i got. #1-105 #2-98 #3-107 #4-92 #5-101 #6-91
    Hopefully them are ok numbers.

Comp numbers good, if you have a spare pack try it, but sounds like a timer base to me.

hey fred i tried a used working powerpack. before i installed the powerpack i tested the orange leads. on the starboard side it showed 50 something volts on all 3. on the port side it showed 50 something on the top but nothing on the bottom 2 left port side. so i replaced the power pack and i hooked up a timing light to it. just cranking it over i now have fire on all 6. the next morning i hooked it up to muffs and i hooked the timing light up to each wire running. all were flashing the light except for the bottom port side, it would light every 10 seconds or so nothing like the strobe the others put out. so im at a lost for words

Swap the coil between #4 and #6 and then re-check it if NFG possibly a bad timer base.

i swapped the coil and still nothing or weak fire. i have a see thru glass looking spark thing and on it it shows spark but very little. i guess just not enough to light up the timing light. would a battery have anything to do with top end/ weak spark? its a brand new group 27 for the cranking battery. i bought a dva adapter for my meter so im gonna try that.

    stator coil test
red lead on terminal on forward starboard stator harness
black lead on other terminal while cranking over 137v

resistance between starboard stator terminals is 806 ohms set @ 2k

resistance between port stator terminals is 1049 ohms set at 2k

    sensor coil test trigger
    black lead to ground
red lead going to all the terminals from trigger one by one
while cranking all showed 0 volts

    trigger output test
black lead going to port side white wire bottom middle terminal
red lead going to all the other terminals except black wire
cranking over it shows 0 volts on all terminals
wiring and connections look fine nothing noticeable.

    trigger ohmeter test
red lead hooked to middle white d port side terminal
black lead going from a,b,c terminals port side
    blue wire ohms .754
    purple wire ohms .740
    green wire ohms.745

    starboard side
    green wire ohms .755
    blue wire ohms .746
    purple wire ohms .744
if i reverse the leads it shows 1.

ohms between both d terminals on both trigger harnesses
    .222 ohms

    testing for a grounded condition
black lead hooked to engine ground
red lead going to all the terminals from the trigger
meter shows 1.on every terminal just like if i didnt touch a terminal with the read lead it shows 1.

Actually dont know but just taking fun jabs at the timer base/trigger statement....I was jabbed last year for calling a timer base a trigger and so hence the name Mercforever,,,since Mercs call it a trigger.

also could the rectifier be bad or the stator? ill try and add a picture of the stator. i dont know if it has anything to do with it but my tach jumps around a lot. would any of this cause the 1 Cylinder not to be firing?

Chris so now that you've replaced the timer base and have lost spark on #2? And #6 has regained spark? So for your edification the pistons are as follows looking from the rear of the motor facing the V-6 logo. Starboard (right, top to bottom) 1,3,5. Port (left top to bottom) 2,4,6. Orange wires from power pack orange/blue top two cylinders, Orange middle two cylinders, orange/green bottom two.
