    HVAC Guys....

The PTAC in my shop finally bit the dust.

What is the correct way to dispose of it? I don't know if it has any freon in it, but the metal components can probably be recycled. 🌎

Have someone EPA certified remove the refrigerant the proper way with the proper equipment, then when empty ask around and there are probably many people who take those units for the copper to scrap. Call your city or county sometimes they will take them and dispose of them properly.

Any Hvac will probably charge you a service call to come reclaim the refrigerant.I myself would put on craigslist for free and sombody will come get it. There isnt 6$ worth of scrap in a ptac unit..We swap them out all the time.

The "correct" way is to have a HVAC guy remove any remaing refrigerant out of it and then take it to a scrap yard. The scrap yards won't take them with refrigerant in them - a big hole in the lines will prove to them that there is no refrigerant in it [wink]
