Which Shimano rod/reel for fishing drop shot rig?

Looking at the Sedona

FI 2500HG the 2017 model and the Sahara F1 2500 HGS. Need a rod to go with it also. Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm pretty wary of the sedona. I bought one last spring to try and it only lasted 1 trip where I caught upwards of 50 smallmouth ranging from 2.5-4lbs. The gears started binding.

Go with either a Sahara or a Nasci 2500 series is perfect.

Of those 2 I would go with the Sahara.

Of those 2, I'd go with the Sahara but I'd pay a little extra and get the Nasci. That's such a sweet spinning reel.

Can you guys recommend a good rod for casting out and dragging the drop shot that won't break the bank?

I love my Powell Max3d 712. Dropshot, shaky head, it's great for all of those.
If your budget is a bit higher I'd look at Megabass offerings.
