    Motormate on a champion hull

I was thinking about replacing my traditional motor support bracket with a motormate, mainly because my lower unit losing a lot of paint. Has anyone had any issues using a motormate on a champion hull? My transom is solid and I don't have a single gelcoat crack and want to keep things that way. Not looking to start a huge debate here on transom support physics....there are enough of those posts already. Just looking for any documented issues on our hulls. Thanks much.

I have used both types and no issues with the mm. They make a nice unit.

I changed from a Transom Saver to a Lock-n-Stow without any problems.

How old of a hull are you referring to? The guy I bought my 198 from had been using a motormate for while and there are no issues with it. I also notice a lot less motor wiggle and bouncing with it compared to when I used the transom saver. Not sure which is really better, but I know which one looks better on rough roads

Seems like they are safe when it comes to the strength of the transom. Have to think, when on pad hauling the mail, the motor and transom are propping up the entire weight of the hull. The forces going through the transom with the motor hanging on it on the trailer are no different except that the motor weighs a lot less than the whole boat. I used to be leary of them but I'm coming around. My motor mate popped off on time while under way, that was not cool and might be the main reason to stick with a traditional support.
