Identify this part on Johnson Fasstrike 150

Hello everyone. I have a 150 Johnson Fast strike which I believe to be a 1997 motor. I am away from my paper work and boat and will post serial numbers tomorrow.1) there is a disconnected cable/ tube and what is its function ( someone said it's a speedo pickup tube)2) could water be getting in the small hole in the grommet/bushing on the motor? I've had some water in my gear lube lately. Trying to figure it out.

will try to post pictures tomorrow

Not much info to go on. where is the tube/cable located? If the tube is in front of the gearcase where it meets the midsection, yes that is the speedo pickup. If it is under the motor cowl then it is probably the water pressure tube. Don't need the serial number just model number but a picture would be very helpful. The pickup for the speedo is on the leading edge of the gearcase and water runs up a separate channel. If you are getting water in the lower you should have it pressure and vacuum tested.
