    Apples to apples, really?

Is a SHO really lighter than a OX66? My manual for the old OX66 indicates 520lb. Yamaha website says the SHO is 505lbs. Are these comparable figures, or are they not accounting for something on the newer motors to make the weights look good? I was under the impression that a SHO was substantially heavier than a OX66.

Not from what I have read on all the tests, they would be with in a few pounds of a OX. I was seriously looking to repower with one. Cj

If I ever have a major issue, going to be some kind of hard debate, especially if I could find one for around $10k. Thanks.

It's all about the materials used and remember those are dry weights without oil. Neither list rigging as well so both are off. The SHO uses an aluminum block and some other lighter materials.
