    No SI or DI troubleshoot

not sure what happened. Have a 798 at console. one SI ducer and a 2d ducer epoxied in hull and connected via Y cable. Sat. both worked. Sunday alll works fine except i get no SI or DI read. just black screen and some very slight "stuff" on the left side. thought maybe the ducer was knocked but seems fine. How do I troubleshoot this? does it have to be on the water?

Put the si tducer in a bucket of water, you will know if it's working. Put the si around range about 20feet or less

A bucket of water isn't going to do anything. You still won't get reflections. Put it in a 20' pool, THEN you'd be getting something!

You can put it in a bucket of water then you will know if both sides of the si and di imaging are working or not and trouble shoot from there. No need for a swimming pool

I have also used a bucket of water to test both sides of a transducer

I don't need a good picture reading. have had it installed for 7 years. I just need to know if it is working. If the bucket of water will work I will try that.

Those of you using a bucket might want to consider this: http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=812011

Either way, found my issue. over the years my transducer cable had been rubbing there it comes out of the boat and over time it rubbed right through to the wires. bought a replacement.
I do have an SI ducer on the TM so I know it wasn't the unit.
