    Ultrex length

I currently have a 45" Fortrex on my 2016 Z520C. I am about to upgrade to the Ultrex. My question is should I get the 52" shaft or stay with the 45"? The wait times are the same because of backorder. any advice is appreciated.

I just put a 45" on mine and it works dandy. Actually, the shaft length on a 45" Ultrex is around 48" or so because of the depth adjust collar................................RR

If you fish shallow a lot, 52" will become very annoying.

My 2 cents if the boat came with the 45 good choice but the 52 is good if you fish big water where as in the waves the 52 will keep the motor in the water , second thing is if you have a travel cover will this beast fit under cover (the 52) my travel cover is very tight with the ultrex with it stowed position only one way to get it to work the 45 . good luck it's a great upgrade love it .

52 then when in short water you lift up the motor.

I stuck with the 45. We get some huge wakes here on Lanier but my motor never comes completely out of the water

I stuck with the 45" to keep from having to modify my cover to fit

I used to do that on my old boat. That got old real quick. I rarely fished deep enough to need a 52" anyways.

The huge waves on Lanier must be different than the waves on Champlain. My 60" Fortrex has been out of the water a few times!

I think wakes are worse than waves as they are not as predictable.

Got the 52 and over it. Just depends where you spend the majority of time fishing. Open water go long shaft shallow then 45. It is all a compromise.
