    Lake Michigan Question

Does the lower end of the lake get rough (more than 2 footers) with a SSE wind? Imagine launching out of Pastrick or Hammond marina. I figure the land will block most of that wind but wanted to see if anyone has any first-hand experience.

    Thanks,
    Waldo

It's hard to judge depending on winds, it can be pure madness no matter the direction.

Under 15mph you should be fine. Last I heard pastrick is still under construction and closed

Heard that too. Was considering Hammond Marina or possibly Marina Shores.

I grew up fish'n Lake Michigan and have fished dozens of tournaments out of both Hammond and East Chicago (Pastrick). A straight South wind is always safest and any wind with the word "East" in it has the potential to be bad. As stated, 15 MPH was normally considered the threshold. Be careful and don't forget your noseplugs, lol...

Stay away when winds are from the North and the East.
