    1987 ranger 393v

I have a 1987 ranger 393v with a 175 mercury black max. The boat had sat for several years I have replaced some parts had carbs rebuilt and the boat is runing now but not like it should, it has a 25 pitch 4 blade prop and is only turning 4600 rpm and doesn't come out of the hole really well. Any input woul be appreciated.

I'd say it's very likely you have too much prop. That is a heavy hull and it's under powered by 25hp. Try a Tempest or Trophy 21 or 23.

Definitely under powered a tad. Try different pitch prop. Also assuming the motor has good compression on all cylinders?

    I have 397v with a 200prov. It turns a 23m or 23 tempest good. But I don't think it would like a 25 at all. I would look into a different pitch.
