Question Champion 203 with Mercury 225 optimax

I recently purchased a 2000 Champion 203 with a 1999 225 optimax with a 23P tempest. P2P is 3.5''. WOT it hits 5750-5800 RPM and right around 60 MPH then kicks on engine guardian mode. I'm new on the ins and outs of how a bass boat is suppose to be set up. I believe it is under pitched and that would caused it to hit the "red line" and kick on engine guardian. I'm curious if anyone has recommendations on prop selection? P2P? Anything and everything is greatly appreciated!

You need at least a 25 pitch tempest. The exact right setup is a worked 26 tempest,8" rapid jack plate and trim extenders. 71-73 mph rig when it's right.

Thanks Pat, is there a big difference between the fury 25p and the tempest plus 25p? As far as performance?

Fury might be the right wheel on some rigs, but not yours.

I believe the max RPM on the 99 Optimax is 5750.

3 1/2" to start. Boat will tell you what it wants from there. Always test with a regular fishing load.
