I had a 1997 super 2100 john story signature series with a 99 225 opti. I really liked the boat. Had more factory options like lighted compartments then the ranger I have now. Seemed like to me it was ahead of its time. My only complaint was the trailer. It was a single axel. Always thought the lid for the co anglers rods on the back deck was neat and different. The cobra is a very similar boat but the 200 on it is under powered.

The John Story boats were good boats. Seems he was more into the fisherman than the industry. He had some good designs. Our last boat was a 99 Fisher that he designed. Great concept and great boat.

I've seen the 201 you're talking about. Looks super clean, but after that it's under powered with the 200.

If I remember correctly a buddy of mine here had a John Story Hawk 1900 with a 200. Seemed very fast, solid and stable. The only think that sucked was when coming off pad hard, you got a tidal wave over the rear deck.

I was lucky enough to meet Jon Story and spend a little time with him back in the late 80s. He was a magician with all kinds of great ideas. Not so good at launching a new line of boats since you need to design and produce some to get them on the market without constantly making changes to the line. My wife and I went out to the Viper factory and yes he had some innovative ideas. Those Vipers ran well as I remember.
