I keep losing a cell in my starting battery

Something keeps cooking my starting battery. I am not sure what is going on since the Propak 2 charger seems to working within limits and smartguage has 13+ volts when running. All other electronics seem to be working fine . Any tips or hints of what I should look for?

What kind of battery are you using? Is it an agm? If so, is your charger capable of charging that agm properly?

Batterys same age as Boat? 2008 ? that's 9 years..A battery can develop a shorted cell because the cell plates shed debris over time, and this debris falls into cavities at the bottom of the cell. When the cavity is full, the debris will contact the bottom edge of the cell plates, shorting the cell . also wet cell battery with the shorted cell usually do not need any water added, and be cloudy, but good battery cells be clear and topped off occasionally . Overcharging or to high of charge AMPs will kill a battery quick.

I average a battery cbange every year for 5 years. Hasn't been a huge financial issue due to warranties .I will post on the other forum as suggested.

Get your alternator checked. I had one that had something wrong with it and it was overcharging batteries

Curious to know what a compressor would have to do with his battery?!?

Smartcraft should show about 14.1 at idle on a good battery, might go up a couple tenths when running.
