    Trolling rod holder mount?

New G3 Sportsman 17. I'm looking to mount a couple of rod holders for trolling and maybe a couple up front for spider rigging. I really want to avoid drilling holes in the new boat. Anyone got any ideas for drilless instalation of the mounts?

The only thing I can think of is the clamp on style for the gunnel/railing or a seat post(s) mounting point. Several options for spider rig mounts up front if you use the seat post location. I ended up drilling through the deck and flush mounting my rod holders. That's mostly because I fish freshwater redfish beginning this time of year and they will rip a poorly mounted rod holder off your boat. I've seen guys loose some pretty expensive rods due to an overly aggressive redfish. As a downrigger option (again for redfish), I remove the port side grab handle and replace it with a rectangular tube that bolt to the gunnel. It allows me to use a clamp on down style downrigger in tandem with the rod holders. Being that it is only two bolts, it allows me to swap it back when I don't need it.

For other ideas, I would go over to the tin boats forum and do a search to see what others have done. It may provide with the method of installation you think is best for you.

Do you have the accessory rail on your boat?

Drilling a few holes in the deck is not going to hurt anything. Set your boat up the way you want it and enjoy it. If you sell it in the future most folks would want what you have installed.
