    1199 won't power on

The power plug in checks 13V... Does the transducer have to be plugged in to power on?

No. Are you connecting the power cord without the cable collector attached?

It has to be the correct orientation with the tab pointed upwards. Reversed and it won't work.

No collector but the the plug has the tab facing up... I slightly bent the power tabs and still not powering up.

I also tried my 797 power cord (working unit at console). Still won't power up with that power plug either

A trip to Humminbird will fix it.

Before I sent it in to HB, I just tried it on my buddy's boat.. It powered up fine... I got home put it back on my boat and nothing. Check volts again on power plug prongs and it's 13.13... Any suggestions?? I even used the collector

Evidently you have voltage for a meter reading which is no load, but don't have the current carrying capacity to run the unit--loaded amps.

You need to re-do your power connections which includes extending the power cords directly to the battery with at least 14 gauge wire and put a 3A spade type fuse at the battery in a water proof holder.

The 797 has less amp draw and should be connected directly to the battery also.

The alternative is to install a dedicated electronics fuse panel and connect both units to that.

I found the problem and figured I would give an update. Hopefully it will help someone else if they encounter this. My boat is a 2000 Triton and the factory connection at the bow was corroded. After cleaning and flaring the pins a little, it works fine.

Thanks for posting the update. So were you using power through that connection to power up the unit?

Yes, the solid red wire is hot and that wire powered the factory bow unit that I replaced with the 1199.
