    Helix 7 G2 or G2N

I have a 4 year old 998c HD SI combo and a 6 year old 898c SI. What I'm looking for is a true Down Imaging with a better Sonar. What I'm looking at is The Helix 7 G2 or the new G2N. My old 898 has a better sonar then my 998. I don't what to spend the money if it not better,

Both the G2 and are the same except for the "N" in G2N means networking.

I'm not sure if it will be any better.

G2N has ethernet compatibility and bluetooth technology, which is only going to grow in this area.
G2 lacks all of the above.

I believe the G2N also has an upgraded processor, but I couldn't confirm that in a quick search.

The 898 is probably better because of the software version. If you want an improved Sonar and DI but still need SI buy a new Chirp Mega SI.

You have to go up to at least a 9 to get the Mega. Like others said the N has nothing to do with the image or sonar quality.

The 898 & 998 are identical units, except one has a 7" display & the other has a 8" display - either it's your settings, software versions or the 998 XDCR is failing from age.

I put a new Transducer on it last summer, the 998 has never be as good as the 898 out of the box, they have the same software versions.
