    Xi5 sliding bracket

I just talked to my local trolling motor shop about mounting an xi5. He said they have fever installed a sliding mount for an xi5 because of the hook on the front. How are you guys getting around this as I don't like it sticking over there front all the time? Thanks.

They've never installed an xi5 or a slide mount ?
You need a slide mount because of the hook and overhang.
Do a search in here. There are a few different mounts you can use.
Some people have stacked 2 plates to allow full clearance of the hook.

That is what they said. They would have to elevate it some way for hook clearance.

It looks like the minn Kota Mka-47 will do the trick.

I used the mk47, you should also look at the liftsaver mount.

Does it slide back enough to get over the bow? It seems like you could use a spacer of some sort to lift it high enough to clear the bow?

Well.....mine does exactly not slide back over the bow completely. It slides back to where it just kind of curls over the bow and the curved part of the Xi5 base tucks back just above the rub rail.

You might be able to space it up high enough to slide it all the way over the bow but you would probably have to lift it by 2-3" (just guessing and going from memory) and the plate would have to be mounted aft enough to get that much horizontal movement. So much so that you might have a problem with the head hanging over the side of the boat by a ways when stowed. Cover fit could be an issue too.

On mine, without a spacer, It is enough that it does not interfere with loading and unloading from the trailer and my Ranger cover still fits.

Someone makes a mount that lifts up and pivots back where you don't need a spacer.
    I would look into that.
It was posted in here a while back.

    This mount. http://www.liftsavertmmount.com/

If I did not already have the minn kota mount, I would have bought this one.

I guess it depends on the boat/trailer. I installed my Xi5 on the Minn Kota slide mount because I was afraid it would hit the roller but have never used it. Xi5 doesn't hit anything when launching or loading my RT178.

I wish mine didn't hit. Wasn't much chance of that not happening. My cable steer would hit the roller sometimes. This is on a Nitro 482.

To the OP...Like TMG, my cable steer TM on my Nitro Z8 would hit the bow roller occasionally (depending on the ramp) - so there wasn't much chance the Xi5 wouldn't hit...I went with the MKA-47 sliding mount - unload the boat, slide out the TM, slide it back to load - part of my unloading/loading habit so not a big deal at all.

    Here's a build thread.

This motorguide mount is what I use for my Xi5. Works great and bolts onto existing Motorguide or Minn Kota bow mount holes. Open the lever and it slides off the mount sideways. My Xi5 does not hit the trailer roller on my Z8 when launching or loading. The only time I take the Xi5 off is to put on my foot cable operated trolling motor.

That's the mount I have on my 482. I lay my TM on the deck then launch and put it on.
Unfortunately mine was mounted to far back so I cannot use the slide function.
Almost positive it would have hit in the back position anyway.
